Attendance is mandatory for ELI courses. Students are expected to attend all courses. Students will be considered absent if they miss a day of classes. Once 5 absences are reached a student will be dismissed from our program, which can result in visa termination. A cautionary letter will be sent on the student’s fourth day of absence as a reminder of the attendance policy. Students will be considered tardy if they arrive to class five or more minutes late or miss the class entirely. Our tardy policy indicates 5 tardies is equivalent to 1 absence.
Students who go over the maximum absence limit may appeal their case to the Registrar. Such students should be prepared to show evidence of a legitimate excuse for every missed class (e.g. doctor’s notes, etc.). Legitimate excuses include medical emergencies, personal emergencies, family emergencies, and required courtroom appearances.
